Caleb Chat – Feb. 19

Drummer Caleb Allensworth got into the Twitter Chat party en route to a show on Feb. 19, so please read on to learn a little more about the man behind the drumset.

Q: Do you play any other musical instruments?
A: I dabble in guitar and piano too!

Q: Favorite movie?
A: Into The Wild is up there for me. Also, Interstellar.

Q: What’s your favorite song to play on stage?
A: Right now, probably Sooner Than Later or Thinking About You.

Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Anything earthy … neutral colors. Except for my drums. #BigRed

Q: How did you get into music as a career?
A: The first time I played a drum set, I knew what I wanted to do. It was love at first groove?

Q: Where’s the furthest you’ve ever traveled to play a show? To see a show?
A: Played a show in Seattle a couple years ago. Seeing Stapleton, Kelsea and KOL downtown on NYE was a LONG night.

Q: If you put your playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? Are there any songs you’re embarrassed to admit to?
A: Lose Yourself by Eminem, and I would embarrass myself trying to rap along.

Q: How’s the view of the crowd from the drums? Maybe try to get a camera set up sometime so we can see what you see?
A: Great idea! If I’m on a riser it’s great, otherwise I’m usually just stuck staring at @JacobDavisMusic’s butt.

Q: Hope y’all make it up to play shows in Canada someday. My city is close to the MI border, I can be your tour guide!
A: Sounds like a plan! I should probably get a passport.

Q: How old were you when you first learned to play the drums & who was your inspiration to learn?
A: I think I was in 4th grade, who whatever age that is. The first time I heard Bonham play is an indescribable feeling.

Q: Favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Easy. Cookies and cream.

Q: If you could jam with another drummer from any band past &/or present, who would you pick and why?
A: Probably Steve Jordan, because the dude grooves like no other.

Q: What is your favorite song to perform?
A: Sooner than Later right now.

Q: What is your most memorable Nashville experience?
A: Watching KOL (Kings of Leon) sing karaoke to their own songs in a double wide trailer that doubles as a karaoke bar.

Q: Do you regret sharing band land with the Snapchat world?
A: That wasn’t really left up to me. @ChristenberryT has a trigger finger when it comes to snapchat. #NoRegrets

Q: What’s your favorite venue to play?
A: Joe’s on Weed in Chicago is up there.

Q: My son plays drums 4 HS band & is constantly drumming everything in the house & driving me crazy. Do you do this?
A: Not as much now, but I drove my family and teachers crazy growing up.

Q: If there is no beer available, what is your beverage of choice?
A: La Croix

Q: Who gave you your first drum set and how old were you?
A: My parent did, and I think I was in 6th or 7th grade.

Q: Which member of the band are you closest to?
A: Well, I’m sitting next to @RabbitInFlight so I guess him.

Q: What’s your favorite guilty pleasure, and is it band land?
A: It was until Baywatch Barbie showed up.

Q: Have you played other musical instruments or has it always been drums?
A: Guitar and piano. Mostly drums though.

Q: Do you have any pets? If not, what kind would you like?
A: Growing up I had a cat and dog. I love pets. I want a dog soooo bad.

Q: What is your absolute favorite song to perform? Country wise and otherwise?
A: That’s always a hard question. I’m digging Sooner Than Later right now. Non country … The Ocean by Zeppelin.

Q: What’s your favorite family tradition?
A: Performing Rocking Around The Christmas Tree for my family on drums on Christmas Eve when I was little.

Q: What’s the best city you’ve visited so far?
A: Seattle for sure.

Q: What is your favorite time of day, are you a morning or night person?
A: It depends on what’s going on I guess. I could go either way. Right now, probably nights.

Q: What’s the cheesiest pick up line you ever used?
A: I once told someone I was Maroon 5’s drummer in my college party days.

Q: Who’s your favorite comic book superhero?
A: Frodo

Q: Coke or Pepsi?
A: Coke for sure.

Q: Tea or coffee?
A: Coffee most times.

Q: Favorite home-cooked meal?
A: All of Thanksgiving

Q: What is your worst fear?
A: Having syrup poured over my head or falling into a pool of jello. Just your normal fears, like being sticky all over.

Q: Are you a candy or chocolate guy?
A: Probably candy unless it’s Hersey Kisses

Q: What was your first job?
A: Working for my dad’s HVAC company.

Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Not much of a dessert guy, but I do love ice cream cake.

Q: Favorite pizza toppings?
A: Meat lovers.

Q: If you weren’t playing music, what would you be doing?
A: I always thought it would be cool to go to culinary school.

Q: What do you do in your spare time (haha right)
A: FaceTime @ChristenberryT

Q: Favorite childhood movie/song/artist/band?
A: Prancer/MmBop/NSYNC

Q: When you first found out about the squad, what were your first thoughts?
A: I hope I get a Baywatch Barbie out of this.

Q: Do you like college football? What’s your favorite team?
A: PSU

Q: How did you and your wife meet & what relationship advice would you give to others?
A: She saw me playing drums at our local church back in PA. Advice: she’s usually right even if she’s wrong.

Q: If you could have a super power, what would it be?
A: Time travel

Q: You’re stranded on an island and can only bring three things, what are they?
A: A case of Land Shark, a beach chair and some sun screen.

Q: What career would you have if it wasn’t music?
A: Probably something else creative, but more specifically, probably become a chef or something along those lines.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: Disc golf, real golf, The Office

Q: Favorite breakfast food?
A: Bacon

Q: If you had to choose one thing to eat for an entire month, what would it be?
A: Chicken wings

Q: Who’s at the top of your must-see live bucket list?
A: Probably The Killers

Q: If you had to give up music as a career and could pick anything what would it be?
A: Go to culinary school probably.

Q: If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Chicken wings

Q: Alright what we all wanna know is who hogs the bed in bandland?
A: Kevin’s hair

Q: Since I just moved to Nashville, suggestions on places to go?
A: Santa’s Pub. This is the karaoke bar in a double wide trailer I referred to earlier. It’s an experience.

Q: Best part of touring?
A: Free beer, and then Bandland

Q: ONE word to describe the @JacobDavisSquad
A: Loyal

Q: Favorite venue you’ve played so far
A: Joe’s On Weed in Chicago was pretty awesome

Q: Besides @JacobDavisMusic (obvi) who is your favorite artist?
A: Probably KOL

Q: Do you need a refill of sour patch kids?
A: I think I’m set for our next few runs. Haha

Q: How old were you when you first started playing the drums?
A: 2 weeks old. I was an early bloomer.

Q: Do the guys have a nickname for you and what is it?
A: Usually just “C”

Q: Would you rather be hot or cold. And which type of vacation, warm weather or cold weather?
A: Hot. Warm weather vaca for sure.

Q: Any destination in the world where would it be?
A: Bandland

Q: Favorite TV show?
A: The Office is the greatest television show ever

Q: What are your pet peeves?
A: Being sticky, tornados, forest fires, elbows on the table, communism

Q: Did you always want to be a drummer growing up? If not, what else did you want to be?
A: When I was little I also wanted to be a professional skateboarder or golfer. Just normal things, ya know?

Q: If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future?
A: The past for sure.

Q: What’s your favorite beer?
A: Yuengling is a staple for me.

Q: Would you describe yourself as introverted or extroverted?
A: Depends on how many beers I’ve had

Q: What’s your favorite thing about performing shows with the band?
A: Hearing @JacobDavisSquad sing every word!

Q: Who in the band would make the best US President?
A: #KingRabbit @RabbitInFlight

Q: Out of the bands/artists you’ve done shows with, who’s been your favorite?
A: Tie between Kelsea and Sam, although we’ve been out with some really great people.

Q: Other than drumming and drinking beer, what are some of your hobbies?
A: Disc golf, real golf, @RabbitInFlight in general

Q: If you had to choose to live without one of your five senses, which one would you give up?
A: Seeing ghosts. I already can’t smell.

Q: How many tattoos do you have?
A: Just one right now

Q: How is your day going?
A: Well, @ChristenberryT is playing with Baywatch Barbie, so I’d chalk today up as a success so far!

Q: You’re stuck on an island and can only have three things, what are they?
A: Baywatch Barbie, a 3 ½ pound bag of Sour Patch kids, and toothpaste

Q: Pizza or burgers?
A: Pizza

Q: Tim McGraw or Sam Hunt?
A: Sam

Q: Knowing playing drums is exercise enough, do you hit the gym as well?
A: I should

Q: Did you play a sport in school or were you in band?
A: Baseball and soccer? Was also in band.

Q: How do you like your eggs cooked?
A: Scrambled with cheese.

Q: On a scale of 1-10, how romantic do you think you are?
A: Ask @Torihatt (his wife)

Q: If you could play one instrument that you aren’t about to now, what would it be?
A: Pedal steel would be cool

Q: How is Makers Mark and the Phunky Bunch doing? Is the basket empty?
A: Working on it as we speak.

Q: Which are you more likely to fight for, love or money?
A: Love

Q: If you were on death row, what would your final meal be?
A: Surf and turf

Q: When what the last time you cried?
A: When @ChristenberryT told me I couldn’t have any more Sour Patch kids.

Q: Would you rather be rich doing something you like or broke doing something you love?
A: I’m doing what I love now and I’m definitely not rich

Q: What’s your biggest fear?
A: The Kool Aid man crashing into my house

Q: Italian or Mexican food?
A: Italian

Q: What is your favorite place to eat at in Nashville?
A: I love me some @HattieBs

Q: Must have roadtrip items?
A: Mostly just something to pee in

Q: Who is the one person in the band everyone is always waiting on?
A: Depends, but a lot of times, Babs.
